5 Must-Have Books for New Moms and a GIVEAWAY
A few of my good friends and also some bloggy pals over at the Real Farmwives of America are expecting their first babinos this year so it got me thinking about a few really great books that helped ease a few of my fears through pregnancy, getting ready for baby (both mentally and physically!) birth and labor, breastfeeding and baby's first year. Below you'll find my TOP FIVE must-have books for any new momma (and dad's too!) and let's face it, it's always good to brush up for the 2nd, 3rd kiddos as well ... but you may already have What to Expect When You're Expecting memorized by that point. But what's a great book recommendation without a giveaway, right? So below, please be sure to enter my giveaway and if you're not expecting ... these make excellent baby shower gifts!
1. Baby Bargains: Secrets to Saving 20% to 50% on baby furniture, gear, clothes, toys, maternity wear and much, much more!
I seriously LOVE this book - it's the first one I recommend to everyone that I know is expecting. It helped me make sense of walking into Babies R Us with absolutely no clue as to what was what and why Graco or Fisher Price is sometimes better than spending more for brands like Chicco! This book offers product reviews, the truth about strollers and tips to saving money on cribs, car seats, strollers, high chairs and much more!
2. The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy
No better than to talk pregnancy stories, birth, labor and babies than your girlfriends! I loved this honest take on what you can REALLY expect when you're expecting instead of the dialed down, shy version.
3. Baby 411: Clear Answers & Smart Advice For Your Baby's First Year
I have to admit, I did love What to Expect When You're Expecting and What to Expect the First Year because it broke pregnancy down to the nitty gritty and then the first year of your baby's life on a month-by-month basis. But this book has a little bit of both, mostly focusing on baby's first year. Think of it as an ultimate FAQ guide for new moms.
4. The Nursing Mother's Companion, 6th Edition: 25th Anniversary Edition
There are a ton of books out there for women interested in breastfeeding, but I found this one particularly helpful and easy to understand. This book has everything you need to "equip" you to be a breastfeeding rockstar. This is coming from a gal who breastfed for 12 months!
5. Hot (Sweaty) Mamas: Five Secrets to Life as a Fit Mom
Being a mom is a full-time job in itself so finding time to work out is a hassle, one that I still battle with as a busy mom who also works outside of the home. But I loved this book in providing honest solutions to losing a few of those extra lbs and kick-starting a realistic workout routine.
Good luck everyone!!
