Family fun in VA with my Navy bro

By June 01, 2012 , , , , , ,

I'll be honest with you (cause that's how I roll - no sugar coating here!), there were a few rough patches during the trip, including Sweet Baby RayRay getting sick in the car on the drive out and again on the way home (like vomit everywhere).

Apparently, she IS NOT a good traveler, at least not more than 3 hours - this I now know - it will probably be a few years before I feel up to making such a long road trip again (because of stops it took four days total and about 16 hours each way - normally it would be a 12 hour drive).

But amidst a few hiccups here and there, I caught some great memories on film (ok digital images ...) from the visit.

It was so much fun to have the cousins altogether and be given the opportunity get to know my nephews better - lots of awesome, quality time spent with family! Totally worth the travel, hiccups and even, yes, the vomit.

Because at the end of the day, it's all about family and I would do anything for mine, as I know it's not the last time I'll be cleaning up vomity cars!

First day, we went to the Botanical Gardens - in which I left my camera in the car!  I caught this one just before we loaded the car.
I did snap this one with my iPhone at the Botanical Gardens waterpark. Isn't she a beauty?

This is my adorable nephew Rowan!

Sweet smiley boy!

On the way home, we stopped in to visit the The Greenbriar in White Sulfur Springs, WV. Let me just say. Oh. My. Gosh. I. WANT to STAY HERE. Let me rephrase ... can I live here?? I just glanced at prices online and it's $219 for the "cheapy" room per night. You can also rent multi-room cottages, which is a bit more (un)affordable at $900-$25,000 per night ...

Gorgeous place ... seems like a good locale for our next mother-daughter vacay ... now I guess I better go get a lotto ticket so I can stay longer than ONE night. :)
